TOGAF raises awareness

Carto-SI wasn’t built in a day. Its origins lie in a well-known frustration among CIOs: having a clear, usable view of their information systems is a real obstacle course.

Its founder, Malloum Laya, was confronted with this challenge from his earliest experience in enterprise architecture. It was while exploring TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework), a recognized methodology for structuring and governing an IS, that he became aware of the problem:

TOGAF is an essential reference, a goldmine for structuring an IS, but in the real world, it remained too theoretical and too complex. CIOs didn’t have a simple tool to translate this framework into a living, actionable cartography.” It was at this point that the idea for Carto-SI was born: a solution that puts visualization and analysis at the heart of IS management.

All agree that IS mapping is a headache for CIOs

To launch Carto-SI, Malloum spoke to hundreds of CIOs and IT managers. They all confirmed the same thing: mapping attempts all too often fail.

I’ve met so many CIOs frustrated by the lack of visibility over their IS. They spent hours assembling diagrams in Visio, Excel or in-house tools, juggling obsolete diagrams and partial information. Decision-making was slowed down, and every project became a headache. What’s more, all this teamwork could become obsolete as soon as an application evolved. The result was hours of wasted time and blind decision-making.

Existing solutions? Either too heavy and rigid, or too homemade and ephemeral. A paradox when you consider that IS mapping is the cornerstone of any digital transformation.

This situation has a direct cost for companies:

The objective was clear: to offer a solution capable of mapping an IS simply, quickly and intuitively. More than just a simple tool, Carto-SI was to become a true driver of IT governance, enabling teams to make informed decisions based on a global, real-time vision of their ecosystem.

We needed a tool that was both powerful and intuitive, enabling IT Directors to see at a glance the real state of their IS and anticipate the impact of each decision.
